4 Slushie Ideas Both Kids and Adults Will Love

by Justin

You usually see slushies at summer parties. However, with a commercial margarita machine, you can easily make them in large quantities at any time. This will be a great idea for tropical-themed parties that can warm you up during bitterly cold and depressingly rainy months.

Use the following recipes to add color and flavor to your party. All of them are non-alcoholic and sure to be loved by kids and adults alike.

Please note that recipes do not include quantities. You will need to decide on those based on your personal preferences and the size of your margarita machine.

Coconut Lemonade

  • Coconut milk (use full-fat for maximum creaminess)
  • Ice cubes
  • Freshly-squeezed lemon juice

This is a perfect treat if you want to taste the tropics and dream of a summer vacation at the beach. The drink is creamy yet sharp. You can control the creaminess by choosing the fat level in coconut milk. You can also add sweetness using any lemon syrup.

Orange Slush Punch

  • Orange and cherry flavored packages of Jell-O
  • Sugar
  • Ginger ale
  • Orange juice
  • Boiling water

To make this delightful treat you’ll need to first combine Jell-O with sugar and boiling water in a large bowl. Stir constantly to avoid clumps. You’ll need to stir until gelatin and sugar are completely dissolved.

Then, add orange juice and stir until combined. Freeze the resulting mixture overnight and then place into your margarita machine following its instructions.

Skittles Slushie

  • Original Skittles
  • Sugar
  • Water
  • Lemon juice
  • Ice
  • Mineral water

Combine sugar with water (start with 4 cups per 2 liters) and heat up in a pan until sugar dissolves. Note that the liquid must be completely clear. Meanwhile, separate Skittles by color and put them in separate jars. Add a bit of hot sugary liquid into each and leave overnight for it to dissolve and become a sweet syrup. Then, mix the contents of jars with ice, lemon juice, and mineral water. Finally, follow the instructions of your margarita machine to turn the mix into a colorful slushie.

Rhubarb Slush

  • Diced rhubarb
  • Water
  • Sugar
  • Lemonade and orange juice concentrates
  • Cold water (ice)

This slushie is for those who want to make something out of the ordinary. You can control the flavor by mixing different concentrates in varying proportions.

In essence, the trick to every slushie is to be creative and bold. Water, ice, and sugar are universal must-haves for any slushie recipe. It’s what kind of flavorants you include that will determine how good and memorable your slushie will be.
