Party Dessert to Impress: Recipes for Your Chocolate Fountain

by Justin

Making desserts for a party can be extremely difficult. But there is one sure way to both ease this job for you and impress your guests. A chocolate fountain is sure to look classy and make everyone very happy. After all, chocolate literally causes your brain to release endorphins.

The easiest way to go is to use a store-rand chocolate mix for the fountain. But if you want to make your party dessert truly memorable, you need to go beyond that. The following recipes will give you some inspiration.

Chocolate Fountain Inspiration: The Chocolate!

You can use any type of chocolate you like for the fountain. However, be aware that for this type of treat a mix of sweet milk chocolate and bittersweet usually works best. You should also buy the best chocolate you can afford. There is no denying the fact that the better it is, the tastier your dessert will be. You can enhance the flavor with some other ingredients, but they won’t cover the taste of chocolate. As well they shouldn’t because this is the primary ingredient of your dessert.

To ensure the chocolate in your fountain has the right texture to flow freely, you should add some oil to it. Of course, you’ll need to choose the oil very carefully and make sure you don’t put in too much. The best options for this treat are unrefined coconut or canola oil.

Use no more than a tablespoon of oil per a cup of chocolate morsels or crushed bars!

You can use butter, but this won’t be the best choice. If you have no other options, keep it to a minimum and do your best to find flavorless butter.

Now, on to the delicious things you can add to the chocolate to enhance its flavor:

  • Vanilla essence or extract.
A teaspoon should suffice to give your chocolatey goodness a mild vanilla flavor.
  • Coffee or coffee liquor.
Mix a teaspoon or two of instant coffee into the chocolate while melting it.
  • Cayenne pepper.
Add just a dash of pepper if you want the chocolate to be truly hot!
  • Peppermint extract.
This will be a great choice for a Christmas party or if you simply want to make your chocolate fountain stand out.

Keep in mind that despite the fact that a chocolate fountain should have a built-in heating element, you need to melt the chocolate separately. Use a microwave or a double boiler to melt all the chocolate. Then, add extracts and oil while stirring the hot mixture. Only pour it into a fountain when everything is mixed thoroughly.
